Every village visit begins with a showing of The Jesus Film. Even if we have shown the film in the village before, the village headmen always request we show it again. We set up our screen (a large white sheet) on the goal posts of the local soccer field and using a projector powered through a petrol generator we show the Jesus Film for anyone who wants to watch (which is usually several hundred people). After the film, we offer the opportunity to be guided through a prayer of repentance for salvation. It is a sweet sound to hear the many voices say a prayer out loud asking for forgiveness of sins and publicly declaring that Jesus Christ is the resurrected Lord.
The confession of faith is just the beginning. While the Jesus Film helps to familiarize people with the teachings and the life of Christ, we also show the “Walking With Jesus” series which is a five part series on the basic foundational truths of Christianity. Ruth’s Shawl continues with additional follow-up, training, and discipleship to the new believers through its other ministries.
